You need to be able to understand what they want to achieve with the redecorating of their home and you have to enable them to understand any restrictions which may be placed on them because of their budget. You also want to have the ability to help them make smart choices which will result in a happy client.
You have to have a creative inclination as well as an eye for colour and form if you are going to be doing interior design. You will have to be able to match the colors that your customers want to use and to create the effects that they are searching for. This isn't something which every person will be able to do.
You also need to be able to manage individuals and your time correctly. You will likely have to cope with suppliers and need to be able to keep your ducks in a row so you finish your jobs in time and keep to the spending budget that you are given without cutting into your profit.
